Dear Sisters and Brothers of the Lewisburg District,
There are no words that adequately express my grateful thanks
for Sunday afternoon worship service. I felt like I was in heaven
listening to Dan Stokes play the organ, Randy Bennett playing the
trumpet and singing and the choir singing that great anthem. And,
I know I was as close to heaven as I could ever get and still be
alive when I heard the congregation sing! The heavens, the rafters
and my heart rang with joy at the sound.
Joanne and I are humbled beyond words (as you could tell on
Sunday) at your more than generous gift for us to buy a piano.
Dan Hicks did say we could buy whatever we wanted. But, a piano
will soon grace the living room of our home in Mechanicsburg.
Joanne and I went looking for a piano when I was in
Mechanicsburg for Cabinet Monday and Tuesday. The astonishing
thing is that Menchey Music is having a sale on new pianos. The
sale ends the last day of May. There are two styles that I think will
be perfect. They will not only fit our living room, but the new price
with the sale will fit almost exactly your gift…
…As I prepare to travel to General Conference and return to finish
packing my office, I do so with a heart overflowing with love for
you, the Lewisburg District. In the words of Paul and Timothy as
Eugene Peterson writes, “My prayers for you are always spilling
over into thanksgivings. I can’t quit thanking God for you!”
Those words will be in my heart and on my lips for an eternity!
